Marechiyo Omaeda is large and rude man who acts as the Lieutenant of Soifon in the Second Division. He has a loud mouth and arrogant demeanor, making him ill-fit to be serving as a Shinigami. It is believed that Marechiyo comes from a well-off family and received his position through connections. Marechiyo’s favorite snack is prawn crackers and is often seen devouring 
them, even on duty. Soifon will often punish him severely whenever crumbs from his crackers fall on her hair.
Marechiyo’s Zanpakuto is named Gegetsuburi. While it looks like any normal katana in its sealed state, when activated with the shikai command “smash”, Gegetsuburi transforms into a giant metal ball attached to a chain and with five large spikes protruding from the surface.
