Soifon is the leader of the Shinigami Special Forces and also the captain of the 2nd Division in the Gotei 13. She is a staunchly loyal individual and strictly obeys the laws and all orders 
given to her. She rarely expresses any soft emotions except when Yoruichi is around.
Soifon was born into the Fon house, one of the lower noble families in Soul Society. She was under immense pressure to join and excel in the Special Forces because any member of the family who fails will be forever exiled. Soifon’s original name was actually Shaolin Fon whereas ‘Soifon’ is the codename used by her grandmother who once a member of the Special Forces. Soifon’s hard work helped her advance through the ranks where she caught the interest of the commander at the time, Yoruichi Shihoin. Yoruichi took Soifon under her wing and taught her many combat skills. Soifon gained a high degree of affection and respect for her teacher. When Yoruichi eventually left Soul Society with Kisuke Urahara, Soifon felt betrayed – not because Yoruichi abandoned Soul Society but because she didn’t take her with her.
When Yoruichi returned to Soul Society, Soifon confronted her in battle to prove to her former master how much had advanced by herself. Like Yoruichi, Soifon is also a highly agile fighter who specializes in speedy hand-to-hand combat. She is well versed in kido and using flash steps in combat. Her Zanpakuto is called Suzumebachi (Hornet) and in its sealed form resembles a wakizashi (short katana). Its Shikai form is activated by the command “Sting all enemies to death!” and transforms into a long black and gold stinger that is worn on her middle finger. Whenever an opponent is stabbed by the stinger, a butterfly symbol appears at the location of contact. If Soifon strikes the same spot twice, the opponent will die, regardless of how powerful he is.
