Episode 004 – And Your Bird Can Speak
Chad brings an allegedly cursed parakeet to school. Ichigo and Rukia sense a lonely spirit possessing it. Later that evening, Chad shows up at the Kurosaki Clinic with a bad wound. Both Rukia and Ichigo sense immediately that a Hollow was behind the attack. But Chad disappears from the clinic taking his parakeet with him. Fearing that a Hollow is hunting Chad, Ichigo and Rukia try to track him down. Ichigo’s sister, Karin, appears and says she sensed that the spirit inside the bird is a lonely boy who only wants to see his mother again. Rukia suggests Ichigo take Karin home and goes after Chad herself. However, the Hollow caught her Shinigami scent and attacks Rukia.
