Rukia visits Urahara’s store to purchase Artifical Spirit pills so that Ichigo can transform into a Shinigami without her being present. However, one of the pills turns out to contain a Mod-Soul – artificial souls created during a failed Soul Society experiment and were supposed to be destroyed. Once the Mod-Soul gains control of Ichigo’s body, it stirs up trouble in Ichigo’s classroom. Ichigo hurries back from a Hollow extermination mission and confronts the Mod-Soul.
