While on a routine Hollow cleansing mission, Rukia and Ichigo find their prey to have already been destroyed by someone else. They soon meet with the culprit, a young man named Uryu Ishida, one of the last remaining members of the Quincy – humans that can use spiritual power to fight Hollows. Ishida turns out to be a quiet classmate in Ichigo’s school. Ishida blames to Shinigami for wiping out the Quincy and challenges Ichigo to a Hollow hunting duel.
