Rukia does not get far from Ichigo’s house before she is caught up by the Shinigamis Renji Abarai and his Captain, Byakuya Kuchiki. Ishida, who happened to be close by, shows up to try to help Rukia but is easily cut down. Ichigo finds Kon tied up in the bathroom and learns that something serious must be happening. He arrives on the scene in Shinigami form and fights with Renji. However, Ichigo is still inexperienced with his Zanpakuto and Renji, a fully trained Shinigami, quickly gains the advantage by transforming his sword, Zabimaru, into its shikai form.
