In Soul Society, Renji visits Rukia in her cell and tells her there’s no way she will be executed because she is a member of the Kuchiki clan. However, Rukia isn’t so sure because she does not believe her brother, Byakuya, cares for her. Ichigo returns to school, only Chad and Orihime appear to remember that Rukia ever existed. He returns of Urahara to begin his training to restore his powers. Urahara removes his soul from his body and has Ichigo battle Ururu Tsumugiya to regain control of his spiritual body. For his second stage training, Ichigo’s soul chain is cut and he is thrown down a pit. At the bottom, Ichigo’s arms are bound and he is told that he will turn into a Hollow in 72 hours unless he figures a way to get out. Meanwhile, Yoruichi the talking cat, meets with Chad, Orihime and Ishida and offers to train the to control their powers so they can help Ichigo go to Soul Society and save Rukia.
