Rukia has only 14 days left until her execution and is moved to the Shrine of Penitence in the center of Seireitei. Renji takes the opportunity to inform her that Ichigo has arrived in Soul Society. Renji later is called by 5th Division Captain Sousuke Aizen who expresses his suspicions behind the circumstances of Rukia’s death sentence. Yoruichi leads the group to Kukaku Shiba’s strange looking house the next day. They are surprise to discover that Kukaku is a young black-haired woman and that her little brother is Ganju. Ichigo and Ganju immediately continue the fight from where they left off. They anger Kukaku who puts an end to their scuffle with a explosive fire punch. Kukaku announces to everyone that she is a fireworks maker and intends to send them into Seireitei by firing them from a giant cannon.
