Bleach Manga Chapter 4: WHY DO YOU EAT IT?

Ichigo becomes frustrated when he hears that Hollows were once human souls, and he has been killing them the whole time. Rukia tells Ichigo that Hollows are no longer human; they are monsters that must be destroyed. She warns Ichigo that Inoue’s life is in danger.

At Inoue’s residence, Tatsuki has come over to have dinner with Orihime. She is disappointed to hear Inoue wasted a chance to walk home with Ichigo, and advises her to be more aggressive. There’s suddenly a loud sound and Inoue’s teddy bear, Enraku, falls to the ground with a rip on its head. Inoue picks it up and finds blood on the bear. Suddenly, a Hollow’s hand bursts out and pierces her body.

Ichigo and Rukia rush to Inoue’s place. Rukia reveals that Hollows eat souls to ease the emptiness inside them. A soul that has just become a Hollow will seek to consume the souls of those it loved the most in its past life. Inoue was her brother’s only family, so there’s no doubt she will be targeted.

The Hollow (Acidwire) attacks Tatsuki next, but she is confused because she cannot see her attacker. Inoue’s soul huddles in a corner after the Hollow’s attack separated her soul from her body. When she sees Tatsuki being strangled, she tackles the Hollow to save her friend. The Hollow addresses her by name, but becomes enraged when Inoue does not recognize his voice. The Hollow attacks, but Ichigo arrives in time to block the blow.
