Like many other households in Japan, the Kurosaki family is hooked on a new showed called Journey to Bust Ghosts on Hallowed Ground or “Ghost Bust.” It stars what Ichigo deems to be a phony psychic named Don Kanonji. Ichigo’s dad and his sister Yuzu are big fans, but Ichigo and Karin don’t care much for the show since they can see ghosts naturally. What really irritates Ichigo is Don Kanonji’s signature laugh. At school, everyone is excited about Ghost Bust coming to film at an abandoned hospital in Karakura Town. Ichigo swears he won’t go but ends up at the event anyways because of his whole family is there. Rukia also shows up and tells Ichigo it is a good chance for him to forget his Shinigami duties for a night. However, they hear a ghostly howl from the hospital when the camera crew begin entering into the building.
