At Urahaa’s Shop, Rukia thinks her Hollow detector is broken because of how many Hollow signals it’s showing. Looking up at the sky, she is shocked to see a giant rift growing bigger by the moment. Chad is walking with his friends Shigeo and Harutoki when an explosion occurs behind them. A large Hollow has appeared but Chad can only vaguely see its form. The Hollow attacks and Chad realizes it is targeting him. He runs for it and tries to lead the Hollow to a remote location where no one will get hurt, but encounters Karin on a soccer field with the Hollow right behind him.
