Chapter 39: Right Arm of the Giant

Chad carries Karin to safety away from the Hollow and realizes that unlike him, she can see the Hollow perfectly. Karin insists on being Chad’s eyes and says she wants to find out what these monsters are and what they have to do with Ichigo. With Karin’s help, Chad is able to dodge a few hits but is eventually struck by the Hollow. In a flashback, Chad remembers his grandfather telling him to not use his large body for hurting others, but to protect them. Chad pleads for the power to protect Karin and awakens his spiritual powers in the form of a black armor which encases his right arm.
