Urahara is the newly appointed Captain of the 12th Division. Yoruichi, Zaraki Kenpachi and Byakuya’s gradfather are also revealed to be captains at the time. Only the identity of the 10th squad captain is left unrevealed.
Yamamoto explains that since the former 12th Dision captain has been promoted, Urahara, who was until then the 3rd seat in the 2nd Division, shall take her place.
Later, Urahara introduces himself to his division members, but Hiyori is unsatisfied with him being her captain. Kisuke has a talk with Shinji and after hearing his advice, decides to make some changes in the 12th Division. Shinji has a weird exchange of words with Aizen and Kisuke asks Hiyori to accompany him to the ‘Maggot’s Lair’.
