Yammi finally arrives at the battlefield, offering Ulquiorra his help. The 4th Espada is as stubborn as usual and refuses Yammi’s assistance. Ichigo remembers the 1oth Espada, who is very eager to fight the young shinigami.
When Ulquiorra advises Yammi to ‘go play’ with the captains at the bottom of the tower, or just stand out of his way, the lower-ranked Espada just ignores him and starts beating up Loli and Menoli. He first takes out Menoli with a single strike of his huge hand, but the other female arrancar has no intention of being killed. She activates her resureccion – “Escolovendra” (Poisonous scorpion) and tries to dispose of her superoirs by spraying them with acid. However she is also defeated by a single punch, which crushes her into the ground. Once she’s dead, Yammi just throws her out of the tower and proceeds to take care of Orihime.
All seems lost, when Ishida jumps out from behind Yammi. The ‘charming prince’ arrives just in time, as usual, to save the princess in despair. The Quincy sends an arrow in the Espada’s shoulder, barely piercing his skin. Yammi is surprised to see another opponent and has trouble keeping up with Ishida’s incredible speed. When the Espada tries to attack, Uryuu reveals that he hid a special arrancar-landmine, given to him by Mayuri, on the floor. The mine explodes engulfing Yammi in its flames.
Ichigo arrives at school to find Rurichiyo back in the human world. It seems she and her servant Kenryuu had an argument after she began to organize a soccer tournament for the commoners. However, Kenryuu believes it is more pertinent for Rurichiyo to repair relationships with the nobles. Rurichiyo ends up telling Kenryuu that she hates him. Kenryuu tries to commit seppuku (suicide) but revealed that he wasn’t serious about it when Ishida offers to help in the ritual. When Rurichiyo hears about Kenryuu trying to commit seppuku, she rushes back to him and they make up. However, Kenryuu still won’t allow her to hold her soccer tournament and she discovers that the whole suicide thing was fake, leading to the two arguing with each other once again.

In this chapter Kubo Tite reintroduces the 10th Espada – Yammi. He is shown eating, after which he heads off in an unknown direction with his dog.
The scene changes to Ulquiorra, who questions Orihime’s action. He finds the fact that she protected Ichigo only from his second attack illogical. The Espada’s monologue is interrupted by Ichigo, who asks Inoue to step back, because of the danger.
Ichigo uses a Getsuga to attack Ulquiorra. However, instead of releasing the Getsuga like a missile, as usual, the shinigami keeps it contain within his sword, so hat his strikes become more powerful and effective. Ulquiorra uses his own sword to push away Ichigo’s attack, saying Getsuga won’t work, unless Ichigo uses his hollow mask.
Meanwhile , Orihime, who is spectating on sidelines, is caught off guard by Loli and Menoly. Their goal is to ’strip’ Orihime out of her powers and status. Ichigo sees Inoue in distress and tries to aid her by launching a Getsuga at the two arrancar. However his shot is blocked by Ulqiourra. The Espada has no intention to help his fellow hollows, but only to annoy Ichigo and drive him out of his skin.
At that point Yammi makes his sudden appearance by smashing a wall just behind Orihime – an entrance which surprises everyone.
