Bleach Manga Chapter 357 – The Colossus of Fear
Whew! Wow! Dang! Things are gettin’ scary! This chapter reminds me a lot of those ‘Lust’ chapters a few weeks back – not much conversation, but sooooo much action and gore, detailed violence and scary monsters! Just the way ‘Bleach’ should be. That’s why I just had to post this now, even though the translation isn’t out yet.
Oh, where should I start, with so much awesome scenes this chapter…
The beginning would be best, I guess. As expected, Barragan’s ressureccion is a bit too scary, even for a shinigami at Soi Fon’s level.
Both the Captain and Vice-captain of the 2nd Division seem shocked, because apparently they’ve never read One Piece and thus haven’t seen a walking, talking skeleton. The 2nd Espada wasn’t kidding last chapter when he said anything he touches starts aging. Just stepping on the roof a building made the whole thing disappear into thin air! To top things of, he even uses a long distance technique – “Death Breath”. It is similar to a cero or the deadliest of acids – it immediately disintegrates all matter around it.
The shinigami try to run away from the attack, but Soi Fon’s left hand is grazed by the attack and is reduced to bones.
The effects of the ‘Death breath’ don’t end there – her entire arm starts to decay at a fast rate, threatening to destroy her body. At first her reaction is normal – she screams in fear and anger, but quickly regains her composure and orders Omaeda to cut her arm off. The chubby vice-captain hesitates at first, but after realizing that his Captain might die, he cuts off the dead arm with one strike. Their actions intrigue Barragan, who decides (for the 5th time in the past 4 chapters) to put an end to the fight.
Just look at that scary face! If that doesn’t say: “Now I’m serious!”, then I don’t know what does…
The author takes us back to Hitsugaya and Halibel’s fight. The beautiful shark-girl keeps attacking, yet she achieves no progress. Every time the Espada uses her water abilities the young captain just freezes the waves with ease. Toushiro states that he has the obvious advantage – his sword is also able to control water, by turning it into ice, and furthermore, Hyourinmaru’s regenerative ability is triggered by absorbing water.
Hitsugaya also uses a new attack – a dragon ice missile. Even though it’s similar to his shikai, it’s supposed to be a lot more powerful. Halibel doesn’t seem very impressed and stops the dragon’s onslaught by cutting it in half, her zanpakuto not even touching the ice.
The Espada explains that her water-based skills are the strongest elemental ability amongst all of the Espada. With a fast counter-attack – ” Cutting Waterfall”, she sends her opponent flying.

well the full scanlation is out at onemanga, http://www.onemanga.com/Bleach/357/01/ . but J didn’t have to speak japanese, the translations came out with the spoilers a few days ago.
descent chapter, but like i said before, not enough progress for one week of waiting… i do really want to see the stark fight, but i guess it would be better if tite finished up all the crap he’s started here first.. but that wouldn’t be very tite-like.

I’d have to agree with you on the little progress, thou i have to say Barragan is a very intimidating enemy. It makes me wonder what Stark is capable off seeing Barragan’s abilities.
Things might get a bit much to also go ahead in the fight with Stark seeing these two battles going on already. I really doubt that Soi Fon still has something up here sleeve, cause no one is gonna sacrifice there arm just to see what Barragan could really do.
Hitsu and Hallibel both seem a bit too proud of themselfs. At this point, dont really care who gets beat up first. I still believe the Captains will fall before the three espada’s.
The Obvious guess would be the Vaizard will intervine. Who they make there actually enemies is still a bit of a guess.
All-in-all, there is a lot that still needs too unfold, but it feels like a very slow walk getting there.

what’s soi fon doing? she’s lost an arm and still not gone bankai. you’d think it was time she got serious, seeing as barragan has already released his sword even though there was no need to. he was having an easy time with her even before.
hitsu has too much confidence in himself. and his battle with halibel is a bit boring cuz all they do is boast and try to belittle each other. my guess is that even if hitsu has the advantage in weapon types, halibel’s stronger reiatsu gives her the edge.
i think both soi fon and hitsu will be defeated, but i doubt they’ll die (hardly anyone ever dies in bleach).
as pretender said, the vaizard are gonna show up just when the situation turns in aizen’s favor. that’s when the fun will really start.

I’m starting to wander that Soi-fon is just playing with that old guy..even though she lost her arm(q:can she regenerate her arm..I mean can she use some Kisukes experiment..like gigai). I bet in next 2 cp..she will mope the floor with that “King” Barrgan.
P.S. Halibel is beautiful..I’ll be so sad when Hitsu kill her…oh well we still have Mmatsumoto.

i forgot to say how cool i think barragan looks. in my opinion, his is the coolest release yet. he looks a bit like ichigo in bankai with his hollow mask.
8th, seems like u have pretty high expectations of soi fon and hitsu. if they really do the job, what’s the vaizard gonna do? say ‘oops, we’re late’?
soi fon’s bankai is her last chance, though i doubt even that will be enough to defeat the masked king. that’s mainly cuz he could have easily killed her even without transforming, which shows the huge power gap between the two.
and rangiku is in the icu, being treated by dr. kira izuru.

Well, they’ve still got Ukitake, Komamura and Yamamoto. Also Urahara, Yoruichi, Tessai, Isshin and Ryuuken. That makes 8 vs. 8 And Aizen, Gin and Tousen are gunna escape to Soul Society.
I also wonder what’s gunna happen with that Wonderweiss guy. I suppose he may secretly be super strong. Could have a nice fight with Ichigo.

i agree with ssj. i think the vizard will come after aizen escapes yamamoto’s technique and fight against aizen (just revenge, not because they want to help the shinigami). but until then i want to see the espada’s fights.
oh and one more thing: where the hell is Chojiro Sasakibe (first division vice-captain)? at the beginning he was there, and then he vanished.

I can see the vizard joining Uruhara in self defense from either Soul Society OR Aizen(because they are both outcasts) but I can’t see them attacking Soul Society just yet, If Soul Society still had beef with the vizards, they would find them through Uruhara (who they clearly know and interact with) or Ichigo, I don’t see them fighting Soul Society NOW, especially since Ichigo’s success and the absence of the central 46 may give them a shot at redemption.
