ALRIGHT! Kubo’s finally done it! he’s managed to embed visual brain-teasers inside his manga. Now you can read, while thinking! How awesome is that. The first puzzle is: “Find the difference!”. Locate all the differences between the first and second page of the manga and win a prize (the text bubbles don’t count as a difference)!

But seriously, I know what is to be lazy, but this is just wrong. Work harder, boss!
On to matters at hand. This was an awfully short chapter and I won’t be going into much detail, so don’t expect much.
Ukitake “battles” the adorable little arrancar Lilynette. Needless to say, she’s absolutely no match for him, which just Juushiro the opportunity to play around with her. The 13th Division Captain has been known for his soft spot when it comes to kids and Lilynette is no exception. It looks like they’re playing a game of tag and the girl just isn’t good enough to slap him. What worries me is that Ukitake always acts as a fatherly figure to such children – like Htsugaya and Ichigo now and Byakuya and Gin in the past. He just might adopt Lilynette at the rate things are going.
Meanwhile, somewhere on the other side of Karakura Town Omaeda’s running abilities are put to the test. The Lieutenant doesn’t really have any other choice – Barragan is just too strong for him to handle. The fat guy tries using physical attacks by smashing a building or two with Gege Tsuburi and shooting the rubble at the enemy. The 2nd Espada’s skills however, allow him to turn the stones to dust and remain completely unharmed.
Omaeda is then hit by an epiphany – he has to use Kidou – the one thing that could possibly have any effect against Barragan’s non-physical defense. He uses one of the very few spells he knows – ”Sekienton” (Crimson Smoke Curtain) to cover his escape path, but it’s not very effective. Barragan finally decides to get serious and pulls out “Gran Caída” (Great Fall – Axe of Destruction) from under his robes.
Just as Omaeda is about to get chopped in half, Soi Fon releases her bankai – “Jakuho Raikoben” (Wasp Official Thunder Rod). She slowly appears behind Barragan, whose facial expression remains as bony as ever.
Soi Fon’s bankai is not amongst the most impressive ones in appearance. Its shape is that of a pilar with a welding mask attached to it, it looks awfully heavy and, as Omaeda notices, it seems very uncomfortable to fight with. We also learn why Soi Fon had to tie herself to a building at the end of the last chapter -the belt she uses to tie herself is made of extremely heavy steel, which means she’s using the building as an anchor. Apparently she needs to be strongly anchored, so that she doesn’t get blasted far away when she attacks. The 2nd Division Captain comments that she doesn’t particularly like her bankai, since it goes against her pride as an assassin. Unlike most tools used for assassination purposes, this one is too big, hinders her movements and has an attack that draws too much attention.
The firing mechanism is like that of a rocket – it releases high-pressure vapors from the eight holes in its body to gain a speed greater than the speed of sounds (you can actually see the small sonic boom), making it practically unavoidable. The mask attaches to its base is used as an aiming device, while the part attached to Soi Fon’s arm is used as a launch base. In its structure it’s similar to a gun, the only question that remains is – what does the over-sized bullet do? I thought it’d be really cool if it were a nuclear bomb. Let’s just see how Barragan’s gonna get away from that! But from what I see in the picture above, it reminds me a lot of Ulquiora’s Cero Oscuras or his Lanza del Relámpago. We’ll just have to wait and see. Also, let’s hope it takes more than that to beat Barragan, because otherwise it’d mean Soi Fon is secretly super strong.
