Bleach Chapter 368: Fearless Child

Hey everybody, thanks for allowing me to do another guest-piece. So… off we go then. I divided up this one in four pieces seeing how this weeks chapter presents us four scenes.

ACT I:
The chapter starts off where the last ended. Hisagi stopping Tousen’s blade with his shikai. Obviously he still very much beat up from his battle with Allon, the weird ass monster which basically took out 4 Vice-Captains and 5 if Yamamoto hadn’t stepped in.  Komamura points out the obvious for us as he looks at Hisagi who is already tired because of his injuries.
Tousen hurt
Hisagi still seems to have some respect left for the former captain as he start by thanking Tousen for all his teachings. AT first Tousen seems to take this as a joke but as Hisagi keeps on talking Tousen seems a bit reminiscent of the old days. After this short talk from Hisagi he boldly challenges Tousen. Tousen’s replies with: “you never change” as he explains to Hisagi he failed to understand and/or comprehend (not sure which is the better word for it) his teachings. He uses his swords ability to easily loosen the chain which was wrapped around his sword. After his speech he ends again with “you never change” and “There was not so much as a hint of fear in your words”, confirming that Hisagi hasn’t caught on to his teachings, the way Tousen intended.

ACT II:
What I had hoped would turn into a fight with Tousen switches to Gin, who observes the destruction of Fura, the creature we reffered to as Superchunky or Garganta’s Tongue. As we already sort off guessed, Fura was indeed Wonderweiss’s  ’pet’. Éven though his face doesnt show it, he does seem angry as he charges a cero for Mashiro who kindly shoves it back in his face with a nice face-plant.
Sweet
Though Mashiro confidently shouts of victory I doubt this is the last we’ll see of Wonderweiss. Gin just… well laughs about it. He doesnt seem to care about any arrancar for that matter. Maybe Kensei and Mashimaro will take try and take on Gin seeing how Mashiro believes Wonderweiss is already out for the count.

ACT III:
Today’s chapter has alot of chatter as the next little comic relieve shows up.
 Question
It starts with Toshiro asking Hiyori and Lisa to take on Harribel without him. Toshiro has his eyes set on Aizen. But i doubt he will have any kind of chance against him seeing what happened last time they faced off. Luckily Hiyori, gently, explains Toshiro he’s a dumbass for even thinking about it. And hell, the shouting seems to have effect on Toshiro. Of course Hiyori can’t keep her yap shut (where Lisa barely speaks), and start to shout even more until…
Shory
The forbidden word. Now they start yelling back and forth about  height and age(hilarious). The argument continues as Lisa sighs and decides to start things off with Harribel. Both agree in the fact that they assumed Harribel would be attacked by all three at the same time.

ACT IV:
The final conversation is of the third match-up start with the most interesting line this week.
 Hachigen
Soi Fon and Hachigen have a history together! Woot?!? If so, does that also involve Tessai? I don’t think Yoruichi had much to do with it all, cause well, until Yoruichi disappeared. Soi Fon’s still ‘loved’ her captain. I seriously wonder thou what happened with these people in the past. What I figured from the Flashback Arch is that the Kidou corps isn’t needed all that much. Second i doubt the events that led to the Vizard’s birth had anything to do with here apparent disliking of Hachigen (and possibly Tessai too). If I go by the dialog she seems to dislike the Kidou Corps as a whole. Barragan interrupts the conversation seeing he grows impatient.

He shows his power through his words as he threatens Hachigen. Hachigen quickly creates a barrier similar to the one he used on the Menos. Just alot bigger. He claps his hands together and the blocks locks Barragen in place, a diamond-like shaped ring forms around his hands and goes all the way around. Hachigen chose Barragan as his opponent as he assumes(as I did) that kidou is the perfect way of fighting him.
 Barragan Owns
Well… we were wrong… very wrong. Barragan ‘Respira’ easily chatters the barrier and Hachigen is totally flabbergasted. I think this makes Barrigan the most bad-ass Arrancar of all of them, even better than Uli.. That’s right I said it… Anyway, this chapter seems to put the Espada’s 2 and 3 in a starting position for a fight in the next chapter. But at this point we can only guess.

I mean, there are a few people now without an opponent I guess(apart from the two obvious being Aizen and Yamamoto). I’m not sure Shinji still needs to fight Tousen. And than there is Kensei. I figured he wanted to go after Tousen himself seeing Tousen was his former subordinate.  Poor Kira wont join any fights seeing how he still has his work cut-out for him. After all this, he can probably apply for captain in the Fourth-Squad. He had a seat there in the first place.  Hinamori, Matsumoto and Iba are definitely out for the count. Maybe Ikkaku still has some reserves left seeing how he can use bankai. Although Pow did beat him to pulp so I don’t think he’ll be helping anyone anytime soon.

Right now, I am most looking forward to the fight between Hachigen vs. Barragan. I think even though Hachigen is surprised by Barrigan’s power,  he still has a lot of tricks up his sleeve as a Vaizard and a Kidou expert. One technique I can think of, is a technique Tessai used in the flashback arch. Tessai used ‘Jikan Teishi’ which was translated as ‘Time Suspension’.
Jikan Teishi
Since Time is essentially what Barragan is all about, I think that technique might be the key to counter anything Barragan tries to do because how can you ‘Age’ something if ‘Time’ doesn’t move forward right?  In short. A lot of interesting stuff coming our way:D. Can’t wait for next week.

Hey hope you don’t mind me publishing this for you Pretend3r. Figured since it was pending you were waiting on me or Bob to put it through.

Good job bud, but just so you know, its spelled though, not thou lol.

I agree about the time suspension technique, but i wonder what effect that will have on the surrounding fights. Shinji will probably go for Aizen again, only to be intercepted by Gin, but if he doesn’t I think Kensei will fight Gin, at least I hope, those are 2 of my favorite characters.

And I’m still holding my theory that Gin isn’t as loyal to Aizen as we believe…

whoops, I should have checked the pending posts more often. I made you an author Pretend3r so you can post whenever now :)

Good job Preten3r. Not too much to see in this chapter. Till now it surprises me how unshakingly calm Gin and Aizen are. Anyway, if its ok with u Bob, I’m due to post next week’s discussion so how about a quick run through of the process in a pm or something. Thanx

    We have PMs?
There’s not much to say, just write your thoughts on the chapter, but if you need help with putting in pics, I or most of us here can help

@ssj: Sorry mate, there will always be a few words i keep mixing up. Englisch aint my native language after all.
@bob: Thanks for making me one.

@ssj again: Gin is indeed a strange character. It’s hard to figure what he is after. Maybe he still a bit like a kid. I mean, he did become a seated officer at a very young age. I think Aizen is very confident no shinigami is of any threat to him and his zakpaktou’s abilities.

Besides we havent seen anyone with a set of abilities to counter Aizen yet. Maybe Ishin:P

I think the reason Soi Fon doesnt like Hachigen is the same reason she didnt like Yoruichi. Soi Fon follows all the rules and laws of Soul Society, so since Hachigen left, Soi Fon doesnt want anything to do with a traitor.
@Pretender, there’s only one character that can counter Aizen’s Shikai, Kaname Tousen. He is blind so Aizens illusions will have 0 effect on him.

i hope the vizard discovered a way to beat aizen. they had 100 years to train so that they could beat him.

Ah, excellent work, Pretend3r, just remember to use the spell checker next time.
Everything looks to be going as planned, for Aizen, that is. Barragan seems practically invincible, but still he’s the second Espada, which means Starks possesses something even better. Or maybe Ceros are Barragan’s weakness?
Also, the way Gin said it, it seems that Fura isn’t the only Superchunky in Hueco Mundo. The fact that he was Wonderweiss’ favorite doesn’t even mean Fura is the strongest of the Superchunkies.

  • By ssj sousuke, August 4, 2009 @ 9:26 am

Maybe not favorite of the superchunkies J, but maybe the favorite of his pets, or followers? Wonderweiss was a VL, and he does and did possess a crown-like tierra. maybe he held some kind of authority or royalty in the hollow world like barragan, where he has multiple subjects like fura…

  • By Pretend3r, August 4, 2009 @ 2:42 pm

@Karijow: You’re right about him, though he isnt quite countering it. The fact that he’s blind isnt really an ability.

@Byakushi: TY mate, I did use a spelling checker. In my Office ‘07 that is. I guess that thing wasnt smart enough. Furthermore i think Cero’s are similar to Kidou so perhaps they can ‘age’ aswell. If not. Then stark would be bad for him. There has too be alot more to him that we’ve seen so far.

Fura might be like a fraccion for ww.
