Bleach 371: Kingdom of Hollowes
Like the previous hollows (or at least the important ones) we see a bit of their past upon their death.
Barragan was apparently a King of Hollows before his death, which leads me to wonder what Hailibell and Stark were before their Shinigamification.
The story starts with Barragan complaining about the complacency of the other Hollows. He thinks he wants a battle, how wrong he was… Then Aizen and crew arivie, after some short comments about Barragan’s crib from Tousen, Barragan gives Aizen the typical “Killing you will be entertaining” speach, calling them insects as usual, probably thinking Aizen in his Shinigami was a good guy… How wrong he was…
Aizen does his usual Shikai ruteine and traps Barragan while Tousen and Gin kill all of Barragan’s minion Hollows.
In Aizen’s illusion, Aizen offered Barragan a chance at more power, but Barragan just scoffs.
Aizen then releases him, giving Barragan little choice to join him, but Barragan promises to use the power Aizen gives him to destroy him.
The chapter ends with Stark commenting on how little Aizen cares
There are two things I noticed about this chapter:
1. Hueco Mundo obviously underwent some renovations to become the Domed Citadel it is now, which makes me wonder when all of it happened. Pre-Rukia’s Execution, Post?
2. Stark said the hollows weren’t the type to avenge Barragan’s death, but all the other Hollows so far seem to contradict this. But I guess his theme being lonelyness means he doesn’t care as much…

My thoughts. Aizen probably went before Rukia’s execution because Las Noches was nothing but empty land, and that castle couldn’t be built in a few months. And now we know why Aizen has so many Hollows, they were probably originally Barragan’s subjects, but since their God-King swore ‘loyalty’ to Aizen, they followed. What surprised me was we didn’t see Charlotte Cuulhourne, Poww, Avirama, Findor, Ggio Vega and Nirrge, considering they had such devotion to Barragan.
Now I think we can all agree that Barragan is/was stronger than Ulquiorra. And apparently Barragan was a Vasto Lorde, as he had a human form (without the muscles, blood, and skin). Also, after he released, he went straight back to his hollow form (difference being the crown’s size), but when most other arrancars release, they only get a fraction of their hollow form, but usually lose most of their human appearance. I’d say Ulquiorra was an Adjchas, he didn’t have a human appearance upon releasing (wings and horns), so maybe he was a bat themed hollow before becoming an arrancar (take Grimmjow for example, he was a panther, but when he became an arrancar, his release fused his panther form with his human form, creating a hybrid like we saw in Ulquiorra’s release).
My theory on Ulquiorra’s Segunda Etapa:
Okay, we all know when an arrancar releases, they gain a part (except Barragan) of their Hollow form. Segunda Etapa completely changed Ulquiorra’s appearance, so my theory is that Segunda Etapa improves on the Arrancar’s original Hollow form (like evolution), so if Barragan had learned Segunda Etapa, his appearance would change drastically (because his release was just the average resurrecion) because he has already gained his full Hollow appearance. Done.

@Karijow: If they were there. They would be pretty much dead. Since Gin and Tousen killed everybody in the scene.
AS for ‘Arrancar’ Barragan. His released form seems perfect. Whereas Uli’s initial release still has well shown human form. I mean, I suppose only Barragan and Yami seem to have a ‘perfect’ release where this is nothing left that looks like there human form. Uli needed a ‘second stage’ release to get there. Barragan looked exactly the same (except for the crown).
Uli might have indeed been a Adjuchas seeing how his form isnt complete. However, it makes me wonder about the former status of Stark, Harribel and not to forget. Yami.
