Grimmjow Jeagerjaques is an Arrancar under the command of Sosuke Aizen and is the sixth highest ranked Espada. The remains of his Hollow mask cover the jawbone on the right side of his face. His Hollow hole is located in his abdomen. Grimmjow has an overall rebellious look to him and is reflected in his personality. He is very rude when speaking to others and is not one to be counted on to always obey orders. He is not afraid of challenging Espada who are higher ranked than himself. For example, he attacked 4th ranked Espada Ulquiorra Schiffer because he believed they were equal in power.

Grimmjow has a love for challenging battles and hates to fight injured or weakened enemies. He has an aggressive attitude and a violent temper. Grimmjow is also highly prideful and will bear a strong grudge against those who have wronged him or beaten him in battle. Before becoming an Arrancar, Grimmjow was an adjuchas-class menos with the body of a panther. He met his future Fraccions, Edorad Leones, Yylfordt Granz, Shawlong Qufang, Nakim and D-Roy at the time. They were so impressed with his battle prowess that they nominated Grimmjow to be their “king.”

Despite his berserker-like demeanor during fights, Grimmjow is a skillful fighter and has a knack for discovering and exploiting weaknesses in his opponents. Like all Arrancar, Grimmjow has the ability to use Cero blasts and also higher level Espada-versions of the attack such as the Gran Rey Cero. Grimmjow’s Zanpakuto is named Pantera, a sword with an S-shaped guard. Its Resurreccion command is “grind” which upon its release transforms Grimmjow with more feline features including claws, sharp teeth and a tail which can be used a whip. His Hollow mask also turns into the shape of a crown on his head, reflecting his title as “king” amongst his Fraccions. In his transformed state, Grimmjow has augmented strength and speed along with several new attacks including the ability to create powerful energy claws from his fingertips called Desgarrion.

Kenpachi Zaraki

Kenpachi Zaraki is the Captain of the 11th Division. He is famous for his lust for battle and is said to have even gained his position by killing the previous captain of the Division in a duel. Kenpachi lives for the thrill of a good fight, and even handicaps himself in battle to make the fight last longer. Kenpachi possesses an enormous amount of spiritual energy that could be greater than even Ichigo’s. He wears a special eye patch to absorb some of his energy and also wears small bells on the points of his hair, all of which to give his opponents an advantage. Despite his bloodthirsty appearance, Kenpachi cares for his subordinates and has their loyalty and respect. The 11th Division is the most aggressive Division in the Gotei 13 but they also have their own code of ethics for battle. Kenpachi is especially soft when dealing with his Lieutenant, the miniscule Yachiru, whose favorite spot is to sit atop Kenpachi’s shoulder. The two of them met in district 80 of the Rukongai after Yachiru’s parents were murdered by thugs. On that same day, Kenpachi also named himself for the first time; Zaraki is the name of district 80 and Kenpachi means the strongest swordsman. Kenpachi is the only Captain to not yet know the name of his Zanpakuto. Because of this, he has not yet been able to release his Bankai. Because of Kenpachi’s overflowing spiritual power, his Zanpakuto is always in its Shikai state and is in the shape of a very long katana. Despite the fact that the blade is dull and the entire sword looks to be in poor shape, Kenpachi is still able to fight highly effective in battle due to his immense strength and swordsmanship. He has demonstrated that he can take on two Captain-level Shinigami with released Bankai’s with only his Shikai state Zanpakuto. After his battle with Ichigo in Soul Society, Kenpachi has stated that he is willing to try harder to communicate with his Zanpakuto in order better understand its power.

Gin Ichimaru

Gin Ichimaru is the silver-haired Captain of the 3rd Division. He is most recognizable by his constantly narrowed eyes and permanent smile on his face. Gin also talked with a sarcastic tone and mocking politeness, making it very difficult for others to trust his word. However, Gin was well aware of this, and seems to enjoy toying with others. To some of the Shinigami, it was no surprise when Gin turned out to be one of the traitors when he, Aizen and Tousen betrayed Soul Society. However, even to his new allies in Heuco Mundo, Gin still remains a mystery whose true motives are impossible to know.

Not much is known about Gin’s past, prior to his joining of the Shinigami in Soul Society. It is known that he had saved a young Rangiku Matsumoto’s life once when she was still an orphan in the slums. It is for this reason, that Rangiku is one of the few Shinigami who may still harbor some hope for Gin. For others, like Rukia Kuchiki, Gin is a simply a creature of pure evil. She has stated that she has feared Gin from the first time she met him. Rukia also mentioned that talking with Gin felt like a snake was coiling around her neck.

Gin’s Zanpakutou is called Shinso and resembles a normal wakizashi (short sword) in its sealed state. The Shikai command is “shoot to kill” which triggers the blade of Shinso to glow white and extend rapidly. The blade generates tremendous force while extending and is able to maintain its rigidity and power, thus allowing Gin to whip his sword in wide arcs and attack multiple enemies.

Yoruichi Shihoin

Yoruichi Shihoin is the former Captain of the Second Division of the Gotei 13 as well as the former Commander of the Shinigami Special Forces. She first appears in the form of a black cat to Ichigo and his friends. Her true form is that of a beautiful dark skinned woman with purple hair and golden eyes. Her personality is funny and witty, and she loves to tease people who appear too serious, such as Ichigo.

Yoruichi was born as the heir to the Shihoin Clan, one of the four great noble families of Soul Society. As the head of the Second Division, she excelled at hand-to-hand combat, flash steps, and kido abilities. She took a young Soifon under her mentorship, teaching her many of the skills that would allow Soifon to later become her successor as Captain of the Second Division and the Special Forces.

Yoruichi left Soul Society and her post as Captain when she aided Kisuke Urahara, a close childhood friend, in his escape from Soul Society. Prior to the start of the events of Bleach, Yoruichi had spent over 100 years in exile. To conserve energy, she spent much of the time in the form of a black cat.

Although she has proven to be a skilled fighter, Yoruichi prefers to avoid direct combat. Reflecting her cat-like appearance, many of Yoruichi’s moves are highly acrobatic and agile. She is a master of flash steps and holds the title “Goddess of Flash”, even out matching Byakuya Kuchiki in speed. Yoruichi rarely uses her Zanpakutou, and relies on hand-to-hand combat combined with advanced kido techniques to dispatch foes.
