Nanao Ise

Nanao Ise is the Lieutenant of the 8th Division, working under Shunsui Kyoraku. Nanao is very serious mannered, which is in contrast with her captain’s laid back manner. Although she gets easily irritated by Kyoraku, she respects him and does anything she can to support him and the division. Nanao also resembles her previous Lieutenant, Lisa Yadōmaru. Before Lisa left the 8th division, she use to read to Nanao, which Nanao appreciated very much.

Nanao is rarely seen carrying her zanpakuto. However, in pictures of the anime, she seems to be carrying what looks like a wakizashi or a tanto, which might be hidden under her sleeve. Or her zanpakuto could be the book.

Love Aikawa

Love Aikawa is a Vizard and former Captain of the 7th Division of the Gotei 13. Similar to 8th Division’s Shunsui Kyoraku, Love is laid back and tends to avoid confrontations if possible. He was expelled from Soul Society after being infected with Hollow powers due to Sosouke Aizen’s experiments. Love has a thick afro hairstyke with is kept spikey, he also wears a green track suit.

Love Aikawa’s zanpakuto’s name is Tengumaru (Long-Nosed Goblin), the shikai command is “Crush Down”. In its shikai state, Tengumaru transforms into a giant spiked club that has the ability to block even Ceros.

Sentaro Kotsubaki

Sentaro Kotsubaki is one of the two 3rd seated officers of the 13th Division (Kiyone Kotetsu is the other). He has been acting as a temporary Lieutenant for Jushiro Ukitake after the death of the previous Lieutenant, Kaien Shiba. Like his rival, Kiyone, Sentaro highly respects his Captain and does his best to try to please him, while trying to ruin Kiyone at the same time. However, both his and Kiyone’s efforts tend to create more trouble for Captain Ukitake than help him.

There is currently no information regarding Sentaro’s zanpakuto or battle abilties.

Kiyone Kotetsu

Kiyone Kotetsu is one of two 3rd seated officers in the 13th Division (Sentaro Kotsubaki is the other 3rd seat). She has been acting as a temporary Lieutenant for Jushiro Ukitake after the death of the previous Lieutenant, Kaien Shiba. Kiyone is also the younger sister of Isane Kotetsu, the Lieutenant of the 4th Division. Unlike her reserved sister, Kiyone is very energetic and easily excitable. Kiyone aspires to serve her Captain, Jushiro Ukitake, as best she can, and at the same time attempt to make her rival, Sentaro Kotsubaki, look bad. But despite her and Sentaro’s good intentions, they often screw things up and make life tougher for Captain Ukitake.

There is currently no information regarding Kiyone’s zanpakuto or battle abilties.

Yasochika Iemura
3rd Seat of 4th Division

Yasochika Iemura is the 3rd Seated Officer in the 4th Division under Captain Retsu Unohana. He is in charging of leading the first relief teams from the 4th Division and is highly organized with those under his command. However, Yosochika is also quite vain and tries (but fails) to look cool in any situation. He has a habit of writing his thoughts and recent events in a diary, but he also reads out loud what he is writing without realizing it.
The name and abilities of Yosochika’s zanpakuto are unknown. Like most members of the 4th Division, Yosochika likely specializes in healing and is weak in combat skills.

Tetsuzaemon Iba

Tetsuzaemon Iba is the Lieutenant of the 7th Division under the command of Captain Sajin Komamura. He has a distinctive yakuza (Japanese gangster) look about with his form of speech, dark shades and hair style. Iba is also known to smoke often and has a large tattoo of a burning cat and the kanji for ‘inviting luck’ on his back.

Iba was originally a member of the 11th Division under Kenpachi Zarachi. He transferred to the 7th Division after coming to terms that promotion to Lieutenant in the 11th Division was probably impossible due to Yachiru’s presence. Some members of the 11th Division looked down on his decision because his reason for promotion was due to a promise to his mother and not because of his own ambitions. Iba still likes to hang out at the 11th Division headquarters sometimes and is good friends with Ikkaku Madarame. Iba’s early “battles” in the series were often in sparring or dueling matches against Ikkaku. Their confrontations usually comes down to sharing a bottle of saké together until it runs out, the two then fight or play rock-paper-scissors to determine who goes to get a new bottle while the other one rests.

The name of Iba’s zanpakuto has not yet been revealed along with its shikai command. In its sealed state, the zanpakuto resembles a tanto (Japanese style dagger). Its released state resembles a broad bladed scimitar with a small protrusion near the tip of the blade. It is unknown if Tetsuzaemon Iba has achieved his bankai yet.

Makizo Aramaki is a seated officer in the 11th Division. He is often frustrated by the fact that his fellow Shinigami often forget his name and just call him whatever they please. The 11th Division’s Lieutenant, Yachiru Kusajishi, refers to him as “Maki-Maki.” Makizo played a role during the battle between Uryuu Ishida and Mayuri Kurotsuchi by knocking out Orihime Inoue and carrying her to safety.

Kenpachi Zaraki is the Captain of the 11th Division. He is famous for his lust for battle and is said to have even gained his position by killing the previous captain of the Division in a duel. Kenpachi lives for the thrill of a good fight, and even handicaps himself in battle to make the fight last longer. Kenpachi possesses an enormous amount of spiritual energy that could be greater than even Ichigo’s. He wears a special eye patch to absorb some of his energy and also wears small bells on the points of his hair, all of which to give his opponents an advantage. Despite his bloodthirsty appearance, Kenpachi cares for his subordinates and has their loyalty and respect. The 11th Division is the most aggressive Division in the Gotei 13 but they also have their own code of ethics for battle. Kenpachi is especially soft when dealing with his Lieutenant, the miniscule Yachiru, whose favorite spot is to sit atop Kenpachi’s shoulder. The two of them met in district 80 of the Rukongai after Yachiru’s parents were murdered by thugs. On that same day, Kenpachi also named himself for the first time; Zaraki is the name of district 80 and Kenpachi means the strongest swordsman. Kenpachi is the only Captain to not yet know the name of his Zanpakuto. Because of this, he has not yet been able to release his Bankai. Because of Kenpachi’s overflowing spiritual power, his Zanpakuto is always in its Shikai state and is in the shape of a very long katana. Despite the fact that the blade is dull and the entire sword looks to be in poor shape, Kenpachi is still able to fight highly effective in battle due to his immense strength and swordsmanship. He has demonstrated that he can take on two Captain-level Shinigami with released Bankai’s with only his Shikai state Zanpakuto. After his battle with Ichigo in Soul Society, Kenpachi has stated that he is willing to try harder to communicate with his Zanpakuto in order better understand its power.

Rangiku Matsumoto is the Lieutenant of Captain Toshiro Hitsugaya in the 10th Division of the Gotei 13. She is an attractive woman with blue eyes and strawberry blonde hair. But her most prominent feature is her enormous breasts, which are likely the largest of all female characters in Bleach, outranking even Orihime Inuoe.

Before becoming a Shinigami, Rangiku was an orphan living in the Rukongai slums of Soul Society before she was rescued by Gin Ichimaru. She has a deep friendship with Gin and was shocked when Gin betrayed Soul Society with Aizen and Tousen.

Rangiku has a free spirited personality and not at all reserved about how she dresses. Although she wears the standard Shinigami uniform, Rangiku likes to keep her robes loose revealing her ample bosoms for everyone to see. She has a love for saké, and becomes even more relaxed after a few drinks. She has no reservations about complaining about her large breasts in casual conversation and no qualms about using them to get what she wants. Despite her lazy-like demeanor, Rangiku gets along well with her more serious Captain. This is likely because Hitsugaya had met her before he joined the Gotei 13 and they share an inherent trust in each other.

Haineko is the name of Rangiku’s Zanpakutou. It appears as a normally shaped wakizashi (short sword) in its sealed state with the exception that the guard is in the shape of a cat’s head. Haineko’s Shikai release command is “growl”, upon which the sword dissolves into ash. By controlling the flow of the ash, Rangiku can cut her opponents as easily as she could with a sword.

Hitsugaya is the Captain of the 10th Division and is a distinctively young-looking boy with white hair. He is one of the youngest ever to reach the rank of Captain and is often regarded as a genius. Despite his young age, Hitsugaya has a serious and mature personality. He finds it annoying when others around him act childishly. Although it mean seem his strictness may clash with that of his more easy going lieutenant, Rangiku Matsumoto, the two do actually get along well and respect each other. Hitsugaya’s childhood friend was Momo Hinamori who still often teases him by referring to him with childish names. Hitsugaya has a strong bond with Momo and is very protective of her even if he doesn’t want to admit it.

Before joining the Gotei 13, Hitsugaya lived with Momo and her grandmother in the slums of Rukongai in Soul Society. He had a great deal of spiritual energy inside him which made others around him uneasy, only Momo and her grandmother were kind to him. Hitsugaya stayed behind when Momo entered the Shinigami Academy, but joined as well later on when he met Rangiku Matsumoto for the first time. She advised Hitsugaya that he could better control his reiatsu (spiritual power) if he became a Shinigami.

Hitsugaya’s Zanpakuto is a powerful water-ice based weapon called Hyorinmaru. In its sealed state, Hyorinmaru looks like a normal katana which Hitsugaya carries on his back. The release command for the Shikai state is “sit upon the frosted Heavens” which causes a crescent shaped blade to appear that attaches to the hilt of the Zanpakutou by a chain. Through slashes of his sword, Hitsugaya can release waves of freezing ice and water which takes the form of a dragon. Anything that comes into contact with it has that part of their body frozen, after which the ice quickly spreads to engulf the victim. Hyorinmaru’s Bankai state allows Hitsugaya to fuse himself with the ice dragon and grow large ice wing and tail, as well as partially covering his body in ice armor. Hitsugaya’s water-ice attacks are far more intense in his Bankai form and allow him to freeze enemies to the very core, to the point where they can be shattered to pieces.
